HiExpat: Thank you very much Kika, it is a true honor for us to have you as a guest in this edition, your career as an event planner specializing in weddings is impressive. We know that Ecuador is a country with magical landscapes and that it is a destination chosen by many when taking "the big step" in marriage. Could you tell us a bit about how you started your career in this beautiful and exciting area of event planning?
Kika: My career in the events industry began more than 15 years ago as the director of my BTL agency.
I am a publicist and designer by profession and this allowed me to manage corporate events, brand activations, and product launches for very important people in the country.
In 2009 I decided to turn my business around and into what I discovered I was more passionate about. I decided to pursue more training and in 2010 I started my destination wedding organization and event design company, and launched my new brand Kika Wedding Planning.
Along the way, this wonderful world has taught me about many spectacular places, cultures, and couples. Together with my team we have carried out hundreds of successful destination weddings, thus achieving the interest of couples who not only want Ecuador as a destination but also countries like Colombia. Mexico, Peru, and the U.S.
Using all my experience I was able to open my own school of wedding and event planning called “Eventistas.” I have been able to teach what I know and have had the honor of being a speaker at international conferences and sharing the stage with greats from the industry such as David Tutera, Bodas de Cuento, Sasha Souza, Ceci New York, and others.
HiExpat: Wedding planners have the responsibility of making the ideas of their clients come true for their dream wedding. What are the most important parts when planning a “dream wedding?”
Kika: The most important thing to be able to plan a dream wedding for a couple is having a true connection with the couple. It is necessary to try and put yourself in the shoes of the couple and feel the same emotion that they feel. At the same time I have to remember that I am there to advise and guide them through tough decisions as well.
HiExpat: Ecuador is the country of the four worlds, full of beautiful and magical places that fit perfectly into the dreams of a couple planning their wedding. Sometimes locations can be a challenge for a wedding planner though, what has been your most memorable experience using unusual locations?
Kika: For me all my weddings are memorable experiences, each one leaves me with a lesson and allows me to get to know the country more. I am convinced that every part of the country is a paradise that deserves to be known.
Ecuador has all the magic that a couple looks for to really live the experience of a destination wedding.
HiExpat: Currently, Ecuador is one of the top countries considered by foreigners to live, retire, and invest. How has your experience been working with foreigners when planning a wedding?
Kika: 90% of my clients are foreign couples, each of them has different cultures and customs and sometimes it can be a challenge.
One time I had to certify myself as a minister to be able to officiate a wedding since the person who was planning to do it could not attend. We had 120 guests and everything was ready, so the wedding planner solved it and the show had to go on.
HiExpat: Finally, based on your great experience, what recommendations would you give to our readers, who are mostly foreigners from North America, if they are planning to get married in Ecuador?
Kika: It can be very difficult to plan a wedding in a destination that is far from home and be 100% sure that everything will be perfect. If you hire and trust a wedding planner, this person really becomes your eyes, your support, and your ally which ensures that everything will go as planned.
Ecuador is a wonderful destination, the location is a dream, and it is worth making it the setting for one of your most important days.

HiExpat: Muchas gracias Kika, es para nosotros un verdadero honor tenerla como invitada en esta edición, su trayectoria cómo planificadora de eventos especializada en bodas es impresionante. Sabemos que Ecuador es un país con paisajes mágicos y que es un destino elegido por muchos al momento de dar “el gran paso” del matrimonio. Podría contarnos un poco acerca de cómo empezó su carrera en esta hermosa y emocionante área de la organización de eventos.

Soy publicista y diseñadora de profesión y esto me permitió manejar eventos corporativos, activaciones de marca y lanzamientos de producto para multinacionales muy importantes en el país
En el año 2009 decidí darle un giro a mi negocio convirtiéndolo en lo que descubrí que me apasionaba, decidí capacitarme al máximo y en el 2010 inicié mi compañía de organización de Bodas destino y Diseño de eventos y lancé mi marca KIKA WEDDING PLANNER.
En el camino, este maravilloso mundo me ha permitido conocer muchos lugares, culturas y parejas espectaculares, junto a mi equipo hemos realizado cientos de bodas destino con éxito logrando así el interés de parejas que no solo desean Ecuador como destino sino también países como Colombia, Mexico, Peru y EEUU
De toda mi experiencia nace mi escuela de Bodas y eventos EVENTISTAS y gracias a esto he podido enseñar lo que se y tenido el honor de ser conferencista de congresos internacionales y compartir tarima con grandes de la industria como David Tutera, Bodas de Cuento, Sasha Souza, Ceci New York, entre otros.
ante, innovación y sobre todo hacer las ideas de sus clientes realidad para brindarles la boda soñada. ¿Qué parámetros considera que son los más importantes al momento de planificar esta “boda soñada”?
Kika Uribe:
Lo mas importante es lograr una verdadera conexión con los novios. para lograr “cumplir un sueño” es necesario sentir la misma emoción que sienten ellos y eso solo se logra siendo empatico pero a la vez estricto, escuchando pero también asesorando.
HiExpat: Ecuador, el país de los 4 mundos, lleno de lugares hermosos y mágicos que se ajustan perfectamente a los sueños de una pareja que está planificando su boda, aunque esto se convierta en un desafío para el Wedding Planner, ¿cuál ha sido su experiencia más memorable utilizando locaciones fuera de lo común?
Kika Uribe: para mí todas mis bodas son experiencias memorables, cada una me deja un aprendizaje y a medida que voy conociendo el país más me convenzo de que es un paraíso que merece ser conocido.
Ecuador tiene toda la magia que una pareja busca para realmente vivir la experiencia de una boda destino.
HiExpat: En la actualidad, Ecuador es uno de los países top considerados por extranjeros para vivir, retirarse, invertir y ¿por qué no casarse? ¿Cómo ha sido su experiencia trabajando con extranjeros al momento de planificar una boda? ¿Tiene alguna anécdota que le gustaría compartir con nosotros?
Kika Uribe: el 90% de mis clientes son parejas de extranjeros, cada una de ellas tiene culturas y costumbres diferentes y ha sido todo un reto para mí cada vez.
Una de las anécdotas que más recuerdo es cuando tuve que certificarme cómo ministro para poder oficiar una boda simbólica ya que la persona que lo haría no pudo asistir, teníamos a 120 extranjeros y todo listo así que una wedding planner debe solucionar y el show debe continuar :)
HiExpat: Finalmente, en base a su gran experiencia, qué recomendaciones le daría a nuestros lectores, que en su mayoría son extranjeros de Norteamérica, si están planeando casarse en Ecuador?
Kika Uribe: Es muy difícil estar lejos del destino de tu boda y estar 100% seguros y tranquilos de que todo saldrá perfecto, Pero al confiar en un wedding planner realmente está persona se convierte en sus ojos, en su apoyo y en su aliado para que esos nervios sean de emoción y no de preocupación
Ecuador es un destino maravilloso, hay lugares soñados y vale la pena convertirlo en el escenario de uno de los días más importantes 🥰
